Micdoctor's Journal: Treasure hunting for parts

July 11, 2004 - Parts is parts. Unless they are hard to get parts.

I had been collecting exotic and radical silks for on stage refurbs for band performers. What I am finding is that the basic foam and classic silk colors are still pervasive for their authenticity factor. I have ordered and received some silk squares from Lekio in Hawaii, swatches shown. I have enough of each color for two refurbs.

Got a screw loose? I know I panic whenever removing these precious threads. I just received an order of 50, for my own fumbly fingers and people buying refurb kits that fess up to the fact that they are a short a screw or two.

Also in the lab Micdoctor now has 5 sets of the "chassis" that holds the R115 Cartridge in the 55 SH Series II. As soon as I get caught up on orders and custom builds, I am going to try and retrofit a vintage headshell with new innards.
